Google : Lookout

Google Lookout is an Android app designed to assist people with low vision or blindness. Using the phone's camera and sensors, the app recognizes objects, images, and text. This supports Google's mission to make information universally accessible to everyone.

Produced by Masonry NYC, the goal was to create a 2 to 3-minute trailer animation to introduce the Lookout app on its official YouTube page and the Google Play Store. The animation uses simple vector shapes, distinct colors, and smooth transitions to make the storyline easy to follow.

As the lead and solo motion graphic designer on the project, I was responsible for all aspects of the project, from animation concepts to exploration, and delivering the final product within a 3-week turnaround.

Transition Scene 01 – Animation Process

I animated the shape paths to create a fake 3D effect, morphing the table into the wallet.

Transition Scene 02 – Animation Process

I used the closing moment to transition into the cereal box scene, creating a fake 3D effect to showcase the box’s rotation.

Transition Scene 03 – Animation Process

Using a combination of several CC effects, I created a cel animation feel for the envelope scene.

I transformed the Google Play logo into a download button and added a playful explosion effect to transition into the next scene.
